She Who Watches

$399.00
sold out

She Who Watches is based on the Wishram story of Chief Tsagaglalal (Suh-GOG-la-lal), a woman who lived on the cliffs above the Columbia River. One day Coyote came along and asked the chief what her greatest wish would be.

"I would like to watch over my people forever," Tsagaglalal said.

Coyote, being a powerful trickster, turned her into a rock.

Chief Tsagaglalal is still there today, watching over the river. You can find her petroglyph/pictograph at Columbia Hills State Park near Dallesport, Washington.

Made solely from repurposed metal, She Who Watches features Native American-inspired symbols plasma cut by hand into the steel.
